Sacred Heart Church - Five Years in America book pre-orderIt is with great joy that I received the news this week of the honour conferred on our native son of this parish of Drumragh and our brother in Christ Fr. Mark Monaghan SMA – Pope Francis has conferred the Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice ("For Church and Pope" in Latin) medal on him. It is a decoration of the Holy See and is currently conferred for distinguished service to the Catholic Church by lay people and clergy. Fr. Mark has served in Nigeria since his ordination in 1970 with dedication and distinction and he is equally generous with his availability to us when he comes home on holidays. We are very proud of Fr. Mark and today on behalf of the parish of Drumragh I pray God’s spirit upon him into the future.
